Detroit Hip-Hop’s Ambassador to the World, Michael “HouseShoes” Buchanan touched down in the ATX on November 19, 2011 to bless the town with his skills on the 1′s and 2′s. HouseShoes has been an integral part of the long burgeoning Motown resurgence. He’s worked with the late J-Dilla, Percee P, Guilty Simpson, Illa J, Exile, Aloe Blacc, Phat Kat, Slum Village, and Elzhi to name a few…. Last Saturday night the Applied Pressure Crew & The Exploded Drawing Crew opened up and they brought their “A” game indeed. I arrived to the venue at 11pm just in time to capture footage of Butcher Bear, Soundfounder, Lo Phi, Boombaptist and HouseShoes. The night started off a little slow, but in the end the turn out ended up to be pretty darn massive. The highlights of the show was Lo Phi and Boombaptist reppin’ HARD for ATX, watching these drunk Dallas groupies GET LOOSE and DJ House Shoes take a smoke break in the middle of his set. WHO DOES THAT?!! HouseShoes don’t give a fuck. He said it himself. HAAA! HouseShoes also mixed and mashed music together that I didn’t was possible. Oh and he ended his set by running through a list of classic tv show theme songs and video game songs. The ones I remember were: Mario Brothers, Ducktails and Believe It or Not. At that particular moment everyone in attendance lost their shit. So if missed HouseShoes this time around, be sure to catch him next time he’s in town. Below is an exclusive interview we got with him and a fight that broke out afterwards. WHAT A NIGHT!
